Dear Neighbors; Did you know Jacaranda Island participates in the Neighbors Saving Neighbors program, more commonly known as the AED program? The Jacaranda Island AED group was formed in 2010 when the neighborhood was built. At that time, the Villages Public Safety Department recommended AED units be attached to homes to minimize theft. If you drive through Jacaranda Island you might not see any AEDs because they are in boxes painted to match the houses and, in many cases, hidden by shrubs. But the AEDs are there and ready to be used by trained responders should anyone in the neighborhood have a cardiac event. |

Homeowners were asked for an initial contribution to support the program and the generosity and community spirit of the residents supporting our neighborhood group allowed us to purchase 3 AEDs. We purchased Powerheart G3 AEDs from Cardiac Science which was acquired by Zoll in 2019. Our AEDs were manufactured in December 2010 and in May 2020 Zoll announced the end of production of the Powerheart G3. |

Last week Zoll sent out an announcement that impacts our neighborhood: Due to limited demand along with supply constraints associated with Powerheart G3 accessories Zoll is ending support for these units. I have selected the Zoll AED Plus as the replacements for our AEDs. These are the most popular units with other AED groups in The Villages. To fund the purchase of 3 new AED units I am asking: Each household of 2 or more persons contribute $60.00 Each household of 1 person contribute $30.00 Zoll is offering a discount on AEDs purchased in February for Hearth Health Month so I am asking that donations be dropped off by February 28th.
