Jacaranda Service Dogs Project

Hi, Fellow Jacaranda Island Bocce Buddies, and Pinochle Club Members:

As you may already know, Jacaranda islander Dave Harrold has been a powerful advocate for the Patriot Service Dogs Project for many years.  His leadership and the support of Jacaranda Islanders have resulted in the sponsorship of 7 previous service dogs presented to disabled veterans, whose lives have been altered in profound ways as a result.  Currently, Dave is appealing for support for the funding needed to sponsor an 8th PSD Service Dog, and the method is a creative one, which he describes below.  Please check the website Dave provides below for full details of this fundraiser and how to participate.

Patriot Service Dog Sponsorship:

A few weeks ago (first in 20 months) I launched a fundraiser to sponsor our 8 th Patriot Service Dog. This fundraiser is different from previous ones. First, I've invited people not in The Villages and/or people not in our neighborhood to participate.   People can either make an anonymous cash donation OR enter a raffle.   You can learn more about this fundraiser @   https://sites.google.com/view/jacarandaservicedogs/home

A few sobering facts:

• Per a 2024 report about Veteran deaths and suicides compiled by the Veterans Administration using data from 2017 - 2022:
  • 17 Veterans commit suicide each and every day + 15 more die from "prescription medication overdose" or "suffocation." (Code word for they hang themselves.)

• Search YouTube for "veterans + service dogs" and watch any number of the hundreds of videos, and you'll hear nearly the identical words spoken over and over; 
  • "Me getting a service dog made life so much better for my family," AND/OR  
  • "Me getting a service dog saved my life!"
